SUMMARY:ROBIN TROWER
DESCRIPTION:\nThe Robin Trower performance scheduled for April 15, 2022, has been cancelled. Please see a message from the artist’s team below:\nWhen we postponed the 2020 tour, we tried to anticipate the defeat of the Covid. We underestimated. The virus shows no sign of becoming less virulent and there is still a high risk for the artist and audience.\nNow we find ourselves with a tour booked, Visas obtained, preparations accelerating, but recognizing that risks for our touring team are unacceptably high.\nThis was underlined this week when we learned that a musical collaborator and close friend of Robin’s had spent two weeks in hospital after he was infected with COVID while on the road. It was a huge shock to learn on Saturday that one of that touring team had died of the virus.\nBecause Robin’s touring style closely parallels that of his friend who is so sorely afflicted, we have decided to cancel the Spring tour (April/May 2022).\nWe need to cancel because we cannot start the rebooking process until there is some clarity about the pandemic’s end. Then we can look ahead to book the relevant tour dates.\nRobin is disappointed by not being able to play for his audience, but we hope that you can all understand the problem, and will support us in our decision. We will get the show on the road as soon as it is safe for all of us.\nTicket holders should contact their original point of purchase for ticketing information. If you purchased your tickets through The Palace Theatre Box Office or website, please call 724-836-8000 or email boxoffice@wctrust.net ( mailto:boxoffice@wctrust.net )for ticketing information. The Box Office is open Monday – Friday 9 AM to 5 PM.\nThank you for your understanding and continued support.\n\nRobin Trower is an English blues singer-songwriter and former member of the band Procul Harum, from Catford, South East London.\n\n\nWhile growing up by the seaside in the sunny town of Southend-On-Sea, Trower’s early interest in music was evident through his attempts to start numerous bands. After his latest effort, “The Jam” disbanded, Trower joined Gary Brooker, his school friend, to play for his band, Procul Harum.\nThis progressive and psychedelic rock band, named after a friend’s pet cat, provided Trower with the musical outlet he had been looking for in his formative years. Procul Harum saw instant success with their Baroque style debut single, “A Whiter Shade of Pale”. The song was a commercial success, topping charts and selling millions of copies worldwide, and was seen by many as the theme song to 1967’s summer of love.\nTrower continued his work with Procul Harum for a number of years, touring and playing notable shows, such as the Isle of Wight festival and an opening slot on a Jimi Hendrix tour. After releasing five albums with the band, he left to start his own project, “The Robin Trower Band” in 1973.\nWith a new band came a new sound, and many of the band’s early albums were recognized for their Hendrix-influenced style, most notably 1974’s “Bridge of Sighs”. The Robin Trower Band has released 19 studio albums since 1973, plus collaborative albums with the likes of Bryan Ferry and Jack Bruce.\nHe is considered by many as an icon in the guitar world and has influenced many blues and rock ‘n’ roll fans with his signature bends and solos. Trower himself cites James Brown’s ability to merge the two genres as a major influence on him.\nTickets – $49, $59 (additional fee at the door)\n\n\n**Rescheduled from September 30, 2020\nAll tickets for the original date will be honored for the new date.\nIf you purchased tickets for a previous date and have a conflict with the rescheduled date, please contact the Box Office for ticketing options by emailing boxoffice@wctrust.net ( mailto:boxoffice@wctrust.net ) or calling 724-836-8000. The Box Office is open Monday – Friday 9 AM to 5 PM for phone and email inquiries.\n
