A look at 69-year-old John Burns, a veteran of the War of 1812. July 1, 1863, John Burns would pick up his old 1812 musket and march off to fight the confederates on Seminary Ridge at Gettysburg. one of the few citizens of Gettysburg that would take up arms against the invading forces of confederate general Robert E. Lee, in the bloodiest battle of the Civil War. A story you won’t forget about a very unique individual that even Abraham Lincoln would ask to meet when he visited Gettysburg in November of 1863.
Another in a series of special presentations for the 250th Westmoreland celebration.
