2023 marks the 250th anniversary of Westmoreland County. In keeping with other local programs scheduled in celebration of this, the Derry Area Historical Society will hold a re-dedication ceremony at 1:00PM at Fort Barr Cemetery on the Atlantic Road in New Derry, Pa. 15671. This is the burial place of 6 Revolutionary War Veterans and the site of one of several frontier blockhouse forts in Derry Twp. Afterwards, from 2:30-6:30 PM, sites of other frontier forts in the Derry Area will be explored followed by an open house at the relocated and restored Fort Barr Cabin.
