Bells Across Pennsylvania

The Bells Across Pennsylvania initiative celebrates the United States’s 250th Anniversary. This project, led by America250PA, places unique, artist-designed replicas of the Liberty Bell in all 67 counties of Pennsylvania. One of the Westmoreland County bells, sponsored by Discover Westmoreland and GO Laurel Highlands, will be unveiled at The Westmoreland on August 10 and remain on display through 2026. The Westmoreland collaborated with America250PA, Discover Westmoreland, Westmoreland Heritage, and GO Laurel Highlands to select artist Mandy Sirofchuck to create the bell that will be on display at the Museum. Her glass mosaic design depicts the region’s iconic landmarks and waterways, diverse wildlife, and lush natural resources. The bell also references significant places in Westmoreland County and the hardworking spirit of the people who call this area home.

Artist Mandy Sirofchuck

Mandy Sirofchuck is a distinguished stained glass and mosaic artist with a passion for integrating traditional and contemporary techniques. Her work has been featured in numerous public and private commissions, and she has taught stained glass and fused glass techniques for over two decades. Mandy and her husband, Paul, are the co-owners of Main Exhibit Gallery & Art Center in Ligonier, where they exhibit work by regional and national artists.

“I am honored to contribute to this incredible project,” said Sirofchuck. “The bell will not only pay tribute to Westmoreland County’s past but also celebrate its present and future. It’s a symbol of our strong community pride.”

Stories in Every Tile

Each quarter of the mosaic Liberty Bell tells a different chapter of Westmoreland County’s story. From the vibrant wildlife and scenic waterways of our natural landscapes, to beloved landmarks and local sights, to community traditions like Steelers Training Camp, and finally, to the steel mills and railroads that shaped our industrious past—every tile is a tribute to the people, places, and moments that define our home.
