Black, Gold & More: A Family Getaway to Steelers Training Camp in Westmoreland County
Every summer, Steelers Nation comes home to Westmoreland County as the Pittsburgh Steelers return to Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, PA for training camp. But watching practice is only the beginning. Turn your visit into a summer getaway filled with fascinating history, family fun, small-town charm and memorable places to stay.
The Steelers’ 2026 Training Camp runs from July 28 through August 17, with the first public practice scheduled for July 29. Admission to practices at Saint Vincent College is free, but fans must reserve a mobile ticket in advance. View the official schedule and ticket information.

Steelers Training Camp and Westmoreland History at Saint Vincent College
Arrive early at Saint Vincent College to enjoy the full training-camp experience. Parking lots are scheduled to open at 8:15 a.m., followed by the gates, Steelers Pro Shop and fan activities at 8:30 a.m. Most public practices begin at approximately 11 a.m.
Be sure to visit the Laurel Highlands Tourism Information Booth at the Fan Zone above the Training Camp field to get swag and more information about local attractions. Bring sunscreen, water and folding chairs or blankets, since bleacher seating is limited. Food trucks are available, although some vendors may accept cash only. While you’re on campus, visit the Fred Rogers Center and explore its public exhibit celebrating the life, work and enduring legacy of Latrobe’s most famous neighbor.

Travel America’s first coast-to-coast highway
After practice, follow Route 30 east to the Lincoln Highway Experience, a Westmoreland Heritage Partner located between Latrobe and Ligonier. This family-friendly museum brings more than a century of roadside history to life along America’s first coast-to-coast highway.

Forts, cannons and George Washington
History-loving families can visit Fort Ligonier, one of the region’s most impressive historic sites and see their new America’s 250th exhibit “To Rise and Fight Again.”
Explore the reconstructed French and Indian War fort, artillery batteries, historic buildings and museum galleries. Among its treasures are George Washington’s handwritten memoirs and his original saddle pistols. Hands-on exhibits and the full-scale fort make this an engaging stop for children as well as adults. Families will also want to visit the Compass Inn Museum, where costumed guides share stories of stagecoach travel along the historic Philadelphia-Pittsburgh Turnpike. All ages will enjoy this tour and learning about many of the sayings that we use every day.
