Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra – BACK TO BACH – OPENING NIGHT

The WSO is pleased to announce a new collaboration with the Carnegie Museum of Art.  As the WSO musicians perform George Walker’s “Lyric for Strings” selected photos by Charles “Teenie” Harris will be paired with the music and projected on the stage. This program is the next in a series of celebrating people of color and female composers. We are deeply grateful to the CMOA for allowing us to showcase these incredible historical photos of African American life in Pittsburgh. Charles “Teenie” Harris (1908–1998) was the photographer for the Pittsburgh Courier, one of the nation’s prominent black newspapers photographing Pittsburgh’s historic African American community from 1935 to 1975.
